The roof structure of the SPAR leasehold section of the shopping center was damaged and deformed after a fire in 2020, leading to the destruction of the building’s shell.
To address the issue, the Szentendre Municipal Council developed a new, cohesive plan in 2022 for the northwest side of the HÉV terminus. This plan involved a complex of plots owned by the municipality. As part of this initiative, a public tender was announced for the development of these sites.
SPAR Magyarország Kereskedelmi Kft. submitted a proposal, which was approved by the Szentendre City Council. The key elements of the proposal are as follows:
A retail store will be constructed on a plot of land (HRSZ: 402/34) exclusively for SPAR, including:
-A SPAR store with approximately 1,200 m² of sales floor area, with service areas on the same level.
-A parking level.
-A moving walkway with lift and stair access to ensure barrier-free entry.
Extension of the existing park-and-ride (P+R) system.
Development of necessary urban connections.
