2025. The 91st General Assembly of CEEC (The European Council of Construction Economists) was held in Madrid between May 8–10, 2025, bringing together the most influential figures in the European cost management profession to jointly reflect on the future of the construction industry and sustainability. The current president of the CEEC is György Spányi, founder and owner of our company. Our partners, Balázs Lengyel and Vilmos Lengyel, also attended the event.
The main topic of this year’s meeting was the integration of construction and environmental cost modeling into building design, a subject that is becoming increasingly relevant in the domestic market as the importance of sustainability and environmental considerations grows.
The event was hosted by CGATE, the Spanish professional chamber representing more than 50,000 members. The conference was opened by Alfredo Sanz Corma, President of CGATE. This was followed by an opening speech from György Spányi, in which he emphasized the importance of international cooperation, knowledge sharing, and transparent cost modeling. This is especially important at a time when geopolitical and economic challenges are putting investments across Europe to the test.
During the program, participants attended several exciting presentations, including on the challenges of managing infrastructure projects in the war-torn Middle East (Palestine) and on the calculation of carbon footprint according to the new European standard (EPBD: EN 15978) for buildings’ global warming potential. The professional day concluded with a special site visit to the historic Hall of Realms building, which is currently being renovated as part of a major cultural investment.
CEEC meetings are not only professional forums, but also opportunities for cost management experts from different countries to build personal relationships and work together towards a cost-effective, yet high-quality and sustainable, future for the construction industry.
